Meet The Coach

Hi, my name is Ben, head coach at SCC - I'm a qualified mountain bike coach who has been coaching for over 5 years and riding bikes for as long as I can remember.

Whatever your ability, we can tailor coaching to you - we'll build a solid base then take technique to the trail, supporting you whether beginner, weekend warrior, or looking to up your race-pace!

Whatever your goal, as a coaches our main aim is to create a friendly & supportive riding environment where you can see your progression take off.

Away from SCC - I coach across the UK and internationally for other organisations including British Cycling, and the talent pipeline of the Great Britain Cycling Team in multiple disciplines; as well as other private race teams / national federations. I am a graduate of British Cycling's Coaching Scholarship program, having been selected in 2022 to represent the north region, which provided coach development at the highest level.

Schools & Children's Group Coaching

Our school and children's coaching focuses on developing core bike skills through fun! We provide sessions across the disciplines of cycling - including BMX, MTB, and general skill sessions, engaging and tailoring the session to meet the requirements of your pupils / children.

We create an enjoyable environment, coaching skills through games and experiential learning - delivered by a British Cycling coach with safety and safeguarding at the forefront of what we do.

Mountain Bike Coaching

Our mountain bike coaching provides either 1:1 or group coaching for all abilities and ages.

Whether you're starting from scratch or wanting to top up your skills - our British Cycling Coaches can tailor the session exactly to your needs. You can also keep an eye out for our open sessions focusing on specific skills.

Our sessions create an environment for fun and individual development, with a friendly coach on hand to help you get the most out of it!

SCC

Race & Training Support

We can provide staff to support your race team or training camp, with experience in the pits and around the course to help you get the most out of your race.

We have experience across disciplines supporting riders and teams on training camps in the UK and abroad, with everything from route planning and off-bike support to managing groups and supporting rides.

Above all, we're experienced with chaperoning and coaching junior athletes - you can expect a commitment to safety and safeguarding for all races or camps.

Our Ethos

Our aim, whatever the level, is to create a safe and friendly environment for any rider - the forefront of what we do is to share the joy of riding a bike. Mistakes will be made - that is part of coaching! We aim to setup riders with the knowledge to continue their development beyond our sessions.

Every session is tailored to your requirements and ability, - you'll have a qualified coach on hand to provide instant feedback relevant to your development journey.
